I could change your handle to badger if you wanted. But those of us old enough on the guild all know you as Del. But if you want to make a new break...
I was born in Melbourne, FL, and raised pretty much all over the US. My mother was a teacher(now retired), and a crafter. My father was US Navy(now retired), in electronics and fore a while a teacher at MIT(also retired). I also have a step-father who was US Navy(now retired) who enjoys painting and woodworking.
I mention all this to explain my own writing/crafting tendencies. I'm a published, unknown, poet and children's author, and a crafter in my own right. I've also been a gamer and roleplayer for over 30 years. I've been both a player and a game master, and I see role-playing as one of many techniques to spark literary creativity.
Living all over the US has instilled in me a great love for natural landscapes, and nature, in general. I always try to bring the natural beauty I've seen in my life to the fantasy worlds I create. Until recently, I've only been able to do this through description and imagery.
I've had other GM's that were artistic enough to hand draw their own world maps, and I've always wanted to do this, but my artistic talent has always been in the literary sense. A painter, sculptor, sketch artist I am not.
Which is why I recently purchased the cc3 programs, both to give more life to my game campaigns, and as visual representation for writing. And while I have no inclination to become a professional cartographer, I am a perfectionist enough to want my maps to look as professional as I can get them.
