It is a fantastic drawing, but I'm getting the boot feeling too. It might be something as simple as changing the orientation a bit.

we could just drop the shadow, we don't have to explain how it stands to people

Ok, here are a couple options attempting to move away from the boot feeling.

    1. no base
    2. a different base and we can make this whatever we want if you have an idea that will work.

What about using one of those bases like samurai swords use, it has two up arms and the cup would rest on them and droop down in the middle. Ya gotta rotate the horn to fit that but that's minor.

I was trying to think of something like that...I'll look up samurai swords.

Alright, I did a little looking around (wasn't that hard to get some cool ideas) and came up with something I think that helps eliminate the "boot effect".

What do we think of these?

better than the "boot", however, the base don't really "stand" on the ground. I think we should drop the base and perhaps decorate the horn a little.

What do you mean they don't stand on the ground? What's the point if you can't set the thing down?

*lol*... no, I meant on the drawing they don't look "grounded", probably cause there is no shadow.

Good point, now that I get it

Not knowing how we will use the image and having some other commissions to get done I think I'm going to take a break on this for a few days. My hope is that seeing it will get things moving again on this project.

If not well, I'll use it for myself as a player handout or something.
