Untitled top-down contour experiment

I'm experimenting with a top down, contoured regional map. Eary days on this one at the moment. Any feedback appreciated, although maybe too early yet. I've started, perhaps unusually with the contours. Updates to follow.

I drew the contour lines drawing freehand in an image editor. I've since done the coastline and rivers in Wonderdraft. I'm still deciding how to continue the map, whether freehand or in WD. I have made a few issues/decisions for myself though! As I say, an experiment that I'm learning from.. Images showing what I have so far (they have transparent backgrounds).

I decided to take the time-comsuming way (Wonderdraft on this occasion), so here's what we have now. Would have been easier to progress freehand..
