World of Gythea
Hello,
Today I want to share with you my first finished digital map of my fantasy universum.
This is the first stage of my work consisting in constructing a world map in digital with a specific arrangement of continents, with a detailed coastline, which will be the basis for further work. In the next stages, which will certainly be very time-consuming, I will add more details and textures. In the long run, my goal is to create an interesting and coherent fantastic world that will also concentrate most of my own cartographic illustrations. So the first step is behind me and I can show you a map of Gythea!
The map only presents the imagination of world based on stories, legends and known lands and oceans. Probably Gythea has not ever been fully explored and due to that a lot of areas and size of the world still reamains a mistery.
I really like how that network of seas and channels between the main continents looks! You mention that this world is probably far more mysterious for its own inhabitants, so were you planning on making any stylized regional maps for parts of this world, or is this project going to be primarily a global-geographic atlas of Gythea?
Very interesting continent shapes! Looking forward to seeing more in-depth maps.

Interesting shapes - I think in some of those seas surrounded by land, the water would get pretty hot without circulation leading to unusual weather patterns.
Please remember that it is only the imagination of Gythea shape. This world is cooler than our Earth. The climate is peculiar
It's time to dig out this topic again, because I made a little progress with my worldbuilding. This time I transferred my original map to another projections and finally I can work on a whole 3D globe.
I also added more seas and reduced some land mass.
Today I want to show you my wold in Natural Eath projection and a color sample fo my physical map. To make it easier to read I used well-known meters
