Wip WIP Valley of the Sidj

I made a continent-sized map in Photoshop for my book, but felt like I needed some closer up maps. So now I'm trying Krita. Still getting used to it, but being able to stamp down full color icons quickly and in a controlled/random fashion is really terrific. Click image for larger version.

    Awesome hoodoos!

Is the appearance of the cliff wall due to a repeating texture? I would suggest adding some variation to it, both in terms of color and the thickness of the sedimentary layers. (That might be a troublesome suggestion, though, since you'd probably want to make the layers on all the hoodoos match...)

Wow, if I saw that in a book, that would get me reading! Very good!

I used stamps to be able to make the map of this size in a reasonable time. It is definitely a compromise in the aesthetics. But given that I've already spent almost the entire year working on maps for my book it's a compromise I'm willing to make!
