    Wip Mangor, WIP

Mangor “the Shrine of the Empire”
Empires & Dynasties tabletop role-playing game

    WIP
There is Mangor map first preview. This is a very small part of the map which will cover the entire island of Mangor at the scale of 1:16000e. The sheet itself will be very large (about 33 x 46 inches).
The part you can see on the picture describe the ”Mount“ where the first village was settled about 1700 years ago. The Mount is a huge butte in the middle of the island, 490 ft high.
Mangor has a great history from the bleak Grey Times where refugees found a home in a mere cave.
Nowadays this cave is a holy place (the Grotto), covered by a beautiful and antique temple. This one is the point of interest for pilgrims coming from everywhere. The other great place at the highest point of the Mount is the Octagonal Temple. This 1000-year-old sacred building is built with wood and bricks.
The Mount is known as the “Temple Mount“.
Many things must be polished yet: you can see only the Mount. The other parts are still in progress, the colors aren’t the final ones, etc.

Hi, nice start and shape. The background looks epic as well. Do you plan to label streets and places?

    Hi!
Yes, labels, streets and roads, amongst several features such as main places, landmarks and so on, will be shown on the map.
As the map is drawn at the scale of about 1/16,000e (1 inch for 160 yards or 1 cm for 160 meters in metric scale), all the streets will not be named on the main map. However, this map will be published in an "atlas" where several parts will be shown more detailed, and major buildings as well (such as temples, libraries, inns, mansions, etc.)
Of course a full history of the city of Mangor does exist! The project is about 45 years old.

    Hi!
the new map of Mangor (WIP)
still a huge work on to complete the entire sheet!
The map is drawn with Affinity Designer, a great piece of software for cartography enthusiasts!
Few labels (English version - a French version is planned too) appear on the picture. Not yet completed of course; many changes will come in the future.
I should appreciate your comments about this project.

    Hi fellow cartographers!
There is an update of the topographic map of Mangor.
A few words about this city:
It's the central part of the sheet. As you can see, the main city of Mangor is divided into two neighborhoods: the Upper Town and The Lower Town. The Upper, settled on the Mount, is the older city built there 1700 years ago. The Lower is more recent, about two centuries old. The suburb is mainly rural, few villages as Brooklan or Akernan does attract the newly wealthy people who want to live in larger properties.
The Upper Town houses the Temples, and several institutions amongst inns, numerous commercial buildings, shops and shelters for pilgrims. There are residential blocks as well.
The Lower Town is the same as the Upper is but less historic and valuable places.
Some religious institutions such as the “Temple’s Ladies Mansion” or the “Holy Shrine Friary” are built near the Mount.

The oldest part of the City lie on the upper corner called “Very Holy Temple Terrace.” In the first days of Mangor (from 90 to 1000 NeyDora Era) when the “First Comers” sheltered in the Cave (the Shrine), then expanded the town toward the north of the Mount.
During the war between Phearys (the Imperial Capital) and Mangor, in 1020, Mangor was hit and destroyed by a mighty weapon. After years of desolation, the Mangorii built the current city toward the south part, leaving the north empty as it is nowadays.
Only a few ruined walls remain on the ground.

The oldest and interesting buildings are
The Cave Temple (the Shrine), The Octagonal Temple (currently Very Holy Temple), the Humble Servants convent and hospital (Women’s religious institution-an oldest one), the Villager’s Sanctuaries.

    In the Suburb:
Brooklan. A rural village where market gardeners supply the City along the year. Brooklan now attracts wealthy mangorii who want to live in larger dwellings.

Akernan. A fishermen’s village, poor and less attractive than Brooklan but essential to life on the archipelago.

In the south (no visible on the map yet)
Thousand Pillars Village. A very old place that existed long before Mangor herself. It was an awesome palace during the ancient times centuries ago the NeyDora era. The current village is small and very rural.

Estala. A mere farm that becomes a village. It was in ancient times a mansion.

    What to do in Mangor?
Upper and Lower Towns count about 20.000 inhabitants in the best days, plus two or three thousand villagers in the suburb area.
Mangorii are mainly, in the Upper: clerical, shopkeeper, innkeeper, workers, civil servants, military, etc. and pilgrims who stay in the numerous inns. The lower is similar to the Upper but pilgrims do prefer to stay in the Upper (nearest to the Temples).
On the shores you should encounter mariners and fishers. Don’t forget you are on the archipelago at the month of the River Shüb (Shüb literally means the Big River).

Wow, that's awesome so far. Really like the land shapes. And the way you are developing the city. Can't wait to see this progress.
