Default May/Jun '22 Lite Challenge: The North Crown

As there have been many important places in my life (home, school, where I met my boyfriend, etc.), I chose to represent the northern region of Montreal where I grew up. The region is actually called La couronne nord (the North Crown) and I think it's very poetic and fits with my personality. This is a very personal piece indeed, and I am eager to work on it. Hope you like the sketch! The mountains at the top are the lower parts of the Massif

P.S. The train is NOT mine. Wanted a placeholder.

I know some people keep the frame for last, but I think it helps me put my mind in order for drawing afterwards. Drew the main mountain chain and the river borders.

Welcome to the Challenge Mimine! I agree, a border like this is integral to the construction of the map.

I am amazed by people who has the foresight to start with the graphic elements first. Awesome start

Worked on the trees (damn my hand hurts after drawing all these trunks). Makes me so happy to draw the places I know like this, it's a totally different feeling than when I draw a fictional map.

Nice progress! And I thoroughly enjoy the borders, it fits really well.

One thing I want to note. Some of the islands or land masses break the perspective trying to flip it top down. Case and point, in the middle top there is an island string that goes straight down, which gives the effect I'm speaking about. It's a smaller thing. But it would enhance the map to address it.

That said! Great work so far!

Those are actually forests and the fields have been exploited around it. This is humanity's work! For the sake of the authenticity of the map, I won't change it I do understand your point though, and I agree totally.

This looks really good! I never even thought of mapping a whole region, so kudos to you for thinking outside the box a little bit.

Added the highways and the first cities. I'm really happy with where this is going!

Oh, I see now. That's why it looked odd. I thought you were going for a pure perspective look, but it is more a top down idea that is translating to perspective in the top left corner? At least that's what I'm getting. Anyhooo, good luck with the rest of the map!
