Default July 2022 Challenge: Somewhere amidst jagged peaks

It has been a while since I entered map challenge.
This is a nice one I opened the generator for fun.

I did not expect to actually draw anything for the challenge,
but I though I could do something small and not so complicated for #3.
As there is only 1 week left I won't make it a big map. Hope I can finish it.

    Cheers
    Rafal

I really dig this so far - I like the look of the buildings, like they've been carved out of the peaks.

Hey, I've been meaning to ask you, what software do you use, and what's your set-up - do you use a drawing tablet? I've been thinking about getting one so I can start doing stuff like this, but I'm lost as to what kind to get. (Sorry to hijack your thread; you can PM me if you want.)

    Thank you Diamond.
Not at all. I am using Krita with an Intuos CTL-480 Small tablet.
I think it is one of the simplest models. Small, no fancy things.
In Krita I mostly use default brushes.
I think I made only 1 custom brush for quick block shade/light with a texture.

If you are about to start and test out drawing with tablet, I would suggest buying something similar in simplicity.
There is no reason to spend a lot of money on big screen display tablet, if you are not sure yet whether you will use it.
The only real downside for me is that with a regular drawing tablet, you are pinned to PC.
If you would like o draw more freely, an iPad would be a good alternative.

That's really amazing. I love your shading techniques. I need to get much better at that.

Thanks for the info - I've heard of Krita, but didn't realize it was open source.

That looks really good. The depth added a great layer to it.

Thank you and you are welcome. IMHO Krita is better in drawing then Photoshop already.
However it is hard to switch for someone who is used to PS.

    Thank you.

I think I will finish on that. No much time left to play around and I have a busy weekend.

Excellent map, this is going to be a tough one to beat I think.
