    Map Wedding Venue Map

I recently completed a commission for a client who wanted a map of their wedding venue in the style of Francesca Baerald's gorgeous Octopath Traveller map.
The style was not one I had ever attempted before, and I made it clear at the outset that it would not be the same, however I do have a large collection of watercolour brushes from GrutBrushes and I knew this would be a perfect time to put them to use.

The most difficult part of this was probably in the detailing. I wanted to make the buildings recognisable enough (and I had plenty of reference images to refer to) however not make the map too crowded as it had to be printed at 9" x 6" (though they did later ask for a larger labeless version twice the size for later personal us). I also wanted to break out a little from my comfort zone and make a fancier border for the special occassion. Overall I'm very happy with how it came out and most importantly, so was the client.

    2748 x 1848px, 300dpi, CMYK - made in Photoshop with an XP-Pen 15.6Pro

Jeebus, this is magnificent. I wish I had the dough to get married there! Also, did I mention this is magnificent? What a gorgeous map!

It's as lovely as a warm summer morning when the birds are singing and the bees are in the flowers.

I love the color palette and the border! They really fit together. Also, a smaller detail, the way you have the river hidden behind the trees is really cool - something I will need to do in the future!

What a great commission, and for a very special occasion!!! I think you really helped this event live up to the hopes of the bride and groom! I don't know where this place is, but the map you made of it makes me want to spend some time there!

You made a pretty good job indeed! I like the clean and warm style, and I'm also curious on which brushes you used
I never bought brushes, but that site it's plenty of cool stuff, thank you for sharing!
