Volcanoes are one of my favorite features to draw because they can become such a storytelling focal point on your maps. There’s just something impressive about their scale, and raw power. And living here in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, I’ve seen and been around my fair share of volcanoes. I can tell you, they are even more impressive in person.

But enough of my rambling! Here are a couple of new tutorials for you on how to draw volcanoes on your regional fantasy maps for Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, or your next novel.

I split this into two tutorials to prevent the page from becoming too long and overwhelming. But this second tutorial takes the base drawing you did, and expands on it so you can draw a volcanic eruption.
