• January 2016 Challenge Result - Re-map a Pulp World

The first challenge of 2016 was 'Re-map a pulp world'. After a little clarification, it was decided that 'pulp' could refer to anything that encapsulated the spirit of the adventure/noir stories from early/mid 20th century. Entrants could create a world map, regional map, town, spaceport, whatever, as long as it related in some way to the pulps.

We had a slow start with this one, as presumably Guilders were sleeping off the Festive Season(!) but by the third week of January, the challenge exploded with many fine entries coming in.

Voting was close with only two votes separating the top three entries, but our congratulations this month go to J.Edward for his map "The Thurian Age", a reworking of Robert E. Howard's Kull stories. You can view the WIP thread at this link. J.Edward collects his third gold compass.

Honourable mentions go to runners-up Chick for her 'Barsoom' map, and Sapiento for 'The Red Tower of Greater Helium'.

Well done to everyone who entered, as there were some fine maps once again this month.

Moving on to our latest challenge....

After a suggestion from Guild members, February's challenge is 'Map a Novel'. Diamond says...

Your mission this month is to map a locale from ANY novel, short story, novella, etc etc. Sci Fi, Fantasy, Western, Horror, Mystery, whatever genre you want, whatever type of map you want.

The winner of this challenge receives not only the usual shiny gold compass, Diamond has also generously offered a $20 Amazon gift card as a prize. So what more incentive do you need?

You can read more info and submit your entries in the challenge thread.

Finally, February's challenge was created in response to some discussion among Guilders. If you have an idea for a challenge, we have a thread where you can make suggestions. If you can drum up enough enthusiasm from fellow Guilders, there's a good chance your idea will be adopted. You can view other suggestions and pitch your own in this thread.
