February / March Lite Challenge Results

The Lite Challenge for Feb/March was 'Map a Battleship'. The idea for the challenge came from a suggestion by Mouse. She wrote...

Would anyone like to draw a map of the different levels in a battleship, the way you would map a house or a dungeon, as a battle map?

You could set a time period, eg tudor war ship, or future star ship.

Or would anyone like to make a map of a massive cruise ship - galactic or sea faring?

    Bogie took the idea further...

So while Mouse's idea is to map a huge battleship, I will accept any type of battle vessel that has a crew. Viking longship, Spanish Galleon, nuclear submarine, up to the DeathStar ( if you are insane enough to try it )

Sadly, no Death Stars this month, but we did get some fine battleships. Among our entries were IGS Cherev, another fantastic 3D render, from Falconius which - I have been promised! - will be finished eventually. We also had The Cephalopod Class Battle Cruiser by Mouse, depicting a genetically engineered living ship (also known as The Space Beastie by some bad spellers round these parts). After a close vote, our runner up was GLS with The Grey Dawn, a fine map of a heavily armoured frigate.

Our congrats this month go to DanielHasenbos for his map of HMS Harewood. Harewood is an aeroship - a sailing ship designed for flight - and the ship's name is the English translation of Dan's surname. Harewood needed a captain and Bogie gallantly offered himself. At least... when he learned there'd be booty, he 'gallantly' offered! A ship needs flags and banners, and Dan inserted some in the captain's colours!

Check out the WIP thread here. Dan also experimented with a black & white version of the map too.

Dan wins his first silver compass and the congratulations of all at the Guild.
