    Obviously there were some rendering issues. I have no idea why that building is black, all the normals are the right direction. Also one of the roads didn't render for some reason even though it was on the correct layer, I think, and was actually set to render. These progress shots are pretty useful for catching errors.

    Edit: I finally discovered why they were rendering black, it's an experimental feature causing the issue. Adaptive subsurf, which is supposed to subdivide the mesh according to it's proximity to the camera (ie closer gets more divisions).
