    Default First hand-drawn map

I am a big admirer of the work done here. I've been pretty intimidated, but recently drew a map for my sister for Christmas (Lake Paradise, MI). I'm sharing it here, nervously. Thanks for all of the inspiration that you all have given! Also, I took some work-in-progress pictures, which can be found here: https://adventuresinmapping.com/2017...-made-by-hand/

Hi, John. Firstly, welcome to the Guild.

This is lovely work, reminiscent of some historical survey maps I've seen. I love the stippling effect.

I read your blog post and enjoyed it. Your photos are beautiful. Have some rep for a fantastic first map.

Beautiful work, John! As ChichPea said that stippling is top notch and adds a great historical aesthetic to it.

Rep coming your way and hope to see some more from you!

Wow, thanks for the kind words everybody! The stippling I found to be pretty fun. I wanted to do a rectangular cross-hatch on the shore around the lake, but the roads sort of ended up stealing that space. Maybe next time.
Speaking of next time, I am going to try out some hand-drawn hillshade. Wish me luck!
