Default Aug/Sept/Oct '22 Lite Challenge: Straights of Solace

Trying something a little different this time around instead of a realistic battlemap.

Will see how it goes. Basic colors in.

Hopefully brought some depth to the seas and some height to the land.

Really not sure what scale I am going with yet.

    A weekend update.

Added the Rocky barren terrain. Added some rocks to the water in some key points. Put some depth to the seas, and some more shallows. Put some docks in. I haven't worked on shadows yet so the docks are a little bit floating now, but don't want to spend the time on that until I am sure of the size, fit and locations.

Despite my best intention of making this a "small scale map", or is it "large scale". I don't know, but I wasn't going for a scaled battle map when I did original layout, but that seems to be where I am headed now with every square being 5 feet. Probably will limit the types of ships that can dock, but a lot of older towns had larger sea bearing vessels dock in the deep water and offload to smaller vessels.

A brief update. Worked on this stronghold for a bit. Not sure of the size. Just feeling odd to me. Too small of an enclosure for so much wall.
So thinking I need to either go larger, full island, or smaller into just a keep.
I like the wall texture and shadows, not sold 100% of the roofs. Might go round or grey or both.
Also not sure I would have put a dock on the island.

    Any thoughts?

Zoomed in, I like the textures of the stronghold. The island is not that big, I think they would have used as much of the landmass as possible so I would go bigger. And a dock would be needed to get people and provisions on and off the island unless there was a tiny sheltered cove to pull a boat into.

I like the setting. I can only wonder where's going to be the village/city.

I am going to have to tap out of this one. Under the weather last week. Created some house brushes, and put the village in last night only to have it crash during the save. Lost my brushes and village. I am would rather keep going at a slower pace than rush it out, I like the layout too much to rush it all in 1 day. And I still have the forest too define and put in. Good luck to all.

Agreed, to good to rush or leave behind, finish it the right way when you can!
