For November's challenge we'll depart from the Fantaseum Alliance challenges, instead returning to and expanding upon a past favorite: symbol development!
This time around your challenge is to create symbols one would expect to find on a Western themed map. Think cowboys and indians, tumbleweed, and stagecoaches! The symbols should be simple yet stylized according to the theme. You don't have to make many, but you must at least include the following:
- Towns
- Oasis
- Cactus/Brushland
- Hills
- Mountains/Mesas
- Desert
- Some form of hazard or warning
- Rail lines
GUIDELINES
- Create symbols that can be used by any graphics or mapping application (png preferred)
- Adhere to the Western theme
- Ensure the list of required symbols is met
- Bonus consideration for making additional, unlisted symbols
- Bonus consideration for making a matching compass rose
- Bonus consideration for making a map utilizing the symbols
Remember to adhere to the contest rules...create a thread for your entry (WIPs welcome), and if you have any questions please put them in this thread.
As a final note, this challenge is designed to be a simple exploration of map symbols; you should be able to be complete it in a small amount of time. Good luck!
