That was a long day....
Trying to figure out the dropped shadows of the buildings...
J. Edward and his famous Sagemound was a huge help... as some aerial photography...
Not sure I did it the right way with all the buildings, but I did tried anyway...
Comments, remarks, ideas, critics are most welcome :

Thanks so much J.Edward !
As I said, you were a huge help (involontary) : I paid a lot of attention to Sagemound to check those shadows... Yours looks so natural !
To my eye, the shadows are a little bit too bright. Did you use an overlay layer with a black brush ?
Yes : overlay layer, black brush... I admit i have no idea how it will come out..
But I know I can still "lighten" the shadow with the opacity of the layer, once the colors are laid
And I still have to pass another layer of shadow to darken those woods (and another of light to brighten the sunny side)

I don't know if I understood you correctly, but there are two type of shadows : The part of the roof which is away from the sun (in the shadow) and the dropped shadows. They are on different layers, so I can work on them separately. Does it answer your question ?
So, second layer of shadows...
Each one of these trees has his own shadow, now ! Hope they like it ;-)
I tried something for these fields : no ink, just the shadows of each furrows. I'lll see with the colours if some ink is needed (maybe just dots ?)
One more field to go and I'll start the colours. Looking forward to it.
For now, that's it :

I think this is going to be great, and your illustrations are fab, but I have to agree with Thomrey about the orange shadows. It may not be so bad once other colours are added, but they are very, very dominant at the moment, far more so than shadows should be, IMO. With a quick glance, your eye is drawn to the shadows first and the roofs of the buildings second. That's a little backward!

Its looking great, Jo
I think the colour of the shadows may need the tiniest amount of adjustment, though.
To me they look a bit kind of... 'hot'. I was expecting them to be predominantly grey, with a tiniest touch of blue, or violet, so orange-brown was a bit of a surprise.
This would be perfectly fine, of course, if you were doing a monochromatic sepia map, but you are talking about adding the colours now, so I know that you are not.
Maybe I should wait and see how the shadows look once you have added the colours
