September/October 2014 Lite Challenge: Amberfall Lake

It's been eons since I've done one of these...

Anyway, this is Amberfall Lake. I woke up early this morning and couldn't go back to sleep, so it's mostly finished. I'm sure I'll find something else to tinker with before the time allotment expires. Probably the fonts. I'm not sure how I feel about some of these.

The layered fonts are interesting but I'm not sure if that works from a readability perspective. But otherwise this map looks sweet! The color palette is great.

Hey, you're one of those back-from-the-dead veterans!
I would say the 'A' for Amberfall is a bit hard to discern, and 'The Shroud' & 'Deeplake' are a bit big, but otherwise I like the textures.

Ha ... back from the dead maybe, but I'm hardly a veteran. I am still very much a novice at this stuff.

I appreciate you guys' suggestions. I'll play around with them and see what happens. That "A" is annoying me too.

Changed the Amberfall font, so it can be read a little easier now. I re-sized some of the other fonts and nudged a few things to get rid of the overlaying texts. I made this map with a history in mind, but I have yet to decide if that history has a place in the piece itself, or just in an accompanying narrative. There's loads of time left on this, so I'm not going to rush it I think.

This is a minor update. I changed some of the labels that I didn't like, and added some mountainous terrain to help the lake more isolated. Also added some for to The Shroud so it can have a reason to he called The Shroud. I think that's it for this time...
