And another small step forward. Shadows! I'll post these without the background, since that will be the format I'll complete them in anyway so they're, you know, useable. Still a little more to do, but I've set myself a short race so tiny steps should suffice.

It strikes me that I may need to beef up the outlines a bit, make them a little thicker. Any thoughts? I guess it depends on what scale the trees are being used at.

    cheers,

I'm debating whether to add ground shadows. The problem is that it would set a light direction, although you could rotate the trees then. I'll play around and see what happens.

    The highlights look good.
Normally I try to avoid directional ground shadows on the objects I make, but since there already is a directional shadow on the tree itself you may as well put a ground shadow on your trees. The shadow will give more depth to the trees also.

I'm not a battlemap guy, but I like them as well. All I can say is that I would prefer if one of the trees where larger.
The highlights are good, and as Bogie said, directional ground shadows should fit well there.

Looking good. I will totally be "borrowing" these! Agree with comments above that some shadow would work well.

And finally with shadows! I changed the illustrator trees to be less directional. Also, these are intended to be used separately, not as a chunk, but if I put in separate images then the thumbnail will only display one. Suffice it to say, that if anyone wants modifications to these trees, send me a note and I'll put them up in the resources forum for you.
