    Wip First time cartographer (WIP)

    World: Untitled
    Region: Untitled
    Status: Work in progress

To do: Roads, villages, cities, ports, ruins, forests, caves, etc.

This is my first try at cartography. Everything was made in Photoshop CS6.

This will be a map used as the world map for my D&D campaign. Any helpful advice or critique will be welcome.

That's a really great start, love the style and colors! The shading looks great when zoomed out, but at full size it's a bit too fuzzy, giving the impression that something is hovering above the landscape. Try sharpening it along the ridges, while letting it fade into the valleys, to really sell it as mountains. And welcome to the forums

Good Start It could use a bit more shading along the coastlines, but overall very good!

So I have been playing around with the map, I this time changed it to a colour map without any relief mapping etc.

I will post a final map along with all the variations I have gone through, but for now here is my map re-colored with some added details.

Any tips, advise or positive criticism is more than welcome.

very good start, looking good. The mountainous areas were a lot clearer in your first map, so unless you've decided against them you might wanna deepen some shadows and lighten some highlights here and there
