    Good call on the carp!

I decided to re-arrange my countries a little bit - no real independent city-states, and only BIG cities shown, which to me makes more sense on a map that's a couple thousand miles on a side. The small dots are cities with populations of 25K to 75K, and the big dots are cities over 75K.

Yep! That did it!.. This map is stunning! The look of the forests, the under-background of the dragon and carp, the mountain style and of course the perfect colors all come together to make this map an absolute pleasure to look at. Add in that the style you are using for font and the well named places just bring this piece together in perfect harmony. I love it!

That is very nice... very elegant and has a very strong vibe.
Much to like about this version D.

Agreed, everything looks spot on this map Diamond! I love the way you did the forests. Can't remember seeing a forest texture like this before, but it looks as if they were just waiting for this particular map... One more time it's a real pleasure to see you at work.

Thank you, guys! I had been searching for that particular forest texture for a long time - I'd seen it on old 80s RPG supplements and loved it - and Ravells found it and posted it a while back. Life saver!

I toned down the antique/leather/parchment a bit and put some borders in. Thoughts?

    That is a beautiful map.

I really can't stop looking at it.

While that looks nice, I really liked how strong the previous background was.
What made you think to change it?

I think I liked it better with the stronger background. It just seemed to do something to the map that made it look more....authentic I guess is the word I would use. Now, no offense, but with the lighter colors it still looks good but it looks a little too digital. Not that digital is a bad thing but you can certainly tell a difference between the two. The first one looks to me like it might have been painted, while the second you can certainly tell was done on a computer.

Yes. That is actually a really good description of what I think my underlying like for the previous version is about.
    Very nicely said Tony.
