Thread: Map 14 - Janantara Elubor [Ilanthar Land]

Thank you both . I'll keep it and just try to improve it a bit (cleaning the coasts, maybe add a second layer).

@J.Edward : everything is done in wilbur, I just added a filter in PSP7 but it doesn't affect the shadows. The light is supposed to come from the top right (45°).

    Thanks Max!

I've cleaned a bit the map and added one more layer for more sharpness. I think I'll work on the forests and such soon. I'm wondering if I should stick with gray tones (quite unusual for me) or color it...

I find it nice with this two colors tones. But would it be difficult to draw the forest then ? May be some hatching zone...

Really like those mountains. I'm very partial to toned maps with very subdued colours. Of course I'm also partial to fully coloured and painted maps.

Oooooh, pretty! I like that you're using a similar technique to mine for your mountains.

So many great mountain styles in this project! Looks awesome Ilanthar, zoomed out it's hyperrealistic and at full size it's a very interesting and unusual look while still being clearly readable.

    Thanks everyone!

I can't decide between color/2 tones... So here are two small tests about forests. Not sure of the cities/places either. Oh, and I added Vorro's archipelago, obviously .

@ Azelor : after correcting the contrast, I used a "color pencils" effect but with bw settings, and a "topography" effect for the sharpness (on a different layer). Those are PSP7 effects, I don't know if they exist in other softwares.
