Space Oddity - Nov/Dec 2016 Lite Challenge

When Bogie asked us to draw the map of a flying island, I looked at my schedule and decided I could not partake. The problem is the itch was too itchy and I couldn't resist. After seeing Abu Lafia's map, I was sure I wanted to do it.

The map was drawn on paper with pencil (gray and red for the two parts), then inked and scanned to be colored in photoshop. After the first pass of colors, the title was obvious to me and some of the labels too.

It was plenty of fun drawing it and I'm pretty satisfied with the result even if the pen and paper part prevented me from trying something new for the canopy and it's shadows and highlights. No doubt I'll have the opportunity to try it on another project.
