Nothing special. I just wanted to avoid the color of the mountains or forests being distorted by the green of the ground below ... so I erased it. It also helps to make an automatic selection of the zone to be colored (forests or mountain) in order to avoid overpainting on the ground

Oh I see! Will it be tricky to blend the base of the mountains into the land?

I wait to see with great interest

Probably, but no more than if I had left the green background.
And then I tried to leave a gradient at the base of the mountains to facilitate the transition. I just have to fill the texture of the mountains further than just to the edge of the ground... At least I hope so ...

Oh I don't know - It seems to be coming along quite nicely considering the amount of work there is to be done

Nice mountains! Are you going to blend their feet into the ground when you've drawn them all?

I cannot wait to see those mountains shaded I guess you could fade the color at the foot of the mountains or add hills to blend them into the grasslands.

    Thanks !

Yes, the whole blending part will be done, once I've put all the colors... I think part of this "frontier" which is too sharp, will be less sharp with the shadows, and if not, I'll work on the blending with all the "effects colors" I want to add (to make some differences on the main land)...

Really nice Jo. The textures around the coastlines/cliffs really bring them to life (:
