Love that movie. One of my favorites. The prequel/sequel from a couple of years ago is pretty good too!

I think the iceberg is the strongest image from your sketches.

I don't know if that means it would translate as the strongest map though. But it's my favourite and even if you don't use it for this competition I'd like to see you make a map out of it and populate the icy depths beneath

My vote goes to Nr. 3 . Marione. Looks already very cool and just sounds way cooler than the rest
    I'm trapped in Darkness,
Still I reach out for the Stars

    Well, darn. haha

Thank you, everyone, for all of your input. It is much appreciated!

I'm still stuck on which direction to go [drat and double drat] so I may try to take two or three of them a bit further and just not use a WIP tag until I figure it out. Or perhaps I'll shift a few ideas into one piece or another. :/

Just don't fall into the trap of failing to decide until its too late to do a really good job on the one you pick! I did that when I was trying to hit the right style and technique for my Malacandra map!

Ah, chashio... I like all of them.
    The iceberg is very compelling.
You did a very nice job with the color and cold feel on that.
I can understand people's interest with the Whitewyrm Steppe.
We seldom see grasslands, especially up close and in perspective.
    And of course, Whitewyrm... nods.
And horse people of the steppe!!! Yeah, it's compelling.

But i was most intrigued by Marione.
I love how you sketched it, the color scheme, the view.
I will have to be careful to not sketch so many if I find time for this challenge.
I would have such a hard time deciding once I had a number of good sketches.

I will be happy to see progress on any of these, as I always enjoy your work.

I like the steppe probably the most, but the others are beautiful as well.
But seriously, how can you paint so fast?

Good points, Mouse. I will try not to fall in.

Thanks for the comments, J. I roughed in Marione a bit further yesterday. Have a few things to sort out before I post that. It changed colors. Sorry. ;P I'd always intended for it to be more natural in coloration, just didn't get that far with the sketch. I've been trying to go about sketching pictures in different ways recently, hoping to find something that makes the finishing process a little easier, but I haven't found it yet. I have a tendency to make things really messy and get bogged down trying to sort it out again. Anyhow.

    Thanks, Hadrian
I only sketch paint fast. Taking the sketch to the finish line is a lot slower for me, but the beginning of it all goes quickly because I have free rein to play with concepts and such.
