Thread: Changing projections

    Question Changing projections

    Hello all,

From Viktor Toth's site, I have acquired a couple of lovely maps of Mars and Venus. They are color coded for elevation, with an arbitrary sea level that I was able to choose.

However, these maps have a sinusoidal projection. I am interested in converting it to an icosahedral project to aid me in making hex maps of selected areas. Is there a program that can accomplish this? Or, does anyone have an overlay which would let me know how to un-distort the projection? (I imagine the latter isn't too difficult.)

    Thanks,

If you can redraw the sinusoidal as a rectilinear (just use the grid as a guide and stretch out the details) then you could use panorama software to create the icosahedral.
