    Wip WIP Imagycka

Trying something new. A colourful style that uses no lineart. Here's an unfinished test - there are still parts that need to be cleaned up.
I'm also unsure about the city icons. Currently they are perspective, but maybe front view might work better.

I'm open for critique and suggestions.

    Hi Sapiento,
This looks really good, nice vibrant colours; I love the mixed opacity colours on the grass and sea!

The only criticism is that there is a bit of a perspective disconnect between your town/city/castle icons (ground level perspective) and the rest of the map (isometric).

Otherwise it looks really strong and original!

    I love it.
It makes me think of the retro game Warlord 2.

Is this done in Illustrator? I like it a lot. I've been experimenting quite a bit with solely vector mapping, but still trying to create a 'fantasy' style (rather than a Google Maps style), so it's great to see you do something similar (though maybe you're using Photoshop?). I love the mountains.

That's pretty cool. Kind of looks like a 'European land mapped by a Japanese explorer' if you know what I mean...

I like the city icons from low up perspective, it looks fantastic. However (I'm not sure this is the case) it may cause a visual clash between the town icons and all the rest of them, like trees and mountains. Reasons this might NOT be an issue is because one understands one cant get that perspective and also be looking down at a piece of land, so intuitively one can come to the understanding that these are vignettes placed within the map.

Very interesting. Can't wait to see you develop it further.

    Thank you, guys!

More small details added and also a paper texture as test.

I'd have to agree with Falconius on the city icons clashing with the rest of the map. Zoomed out I thought the cities and towns were a kind of mountain or hill. Everything else looks fantastic though.

Interesting and cool experiment! I really like the trees and mountains, in particular.
