Hello, I have "lurked" this forum for a while but have not been a member until now. I recently discovered what a "bump map" is on GIMP and I figured that it could be great to finally make maps of my own; now that I felt like I had started to learn more about what the program has to offer.

The attached image is made by someone screen named Levodoom. His stuff rocks and I've seen it before, but I am really taken by the way his ridge lines/mountains work. I have been trying to deduce a way to make something like that on my own, but I'm not sure I know enough about GIMP to follow proper avenues. To satisfy my curiosity I figured I would turn to the experts.
