Okay, first a couple pictures to show the region I am talking about here. Looking for feedback on the bullets below to see if anything looks completely out of line. I modeled the terrain largely after Paraguay, flipped upside down (mountains to the NW instead of SE). The planned wind patterns would blow in from the East.

Vria

Geography
Vria is on the southern half of the island of Kervria off the continent of Lamay. The island was formed through plate tectonics and limited volcanic activity. As a result it has some very high peaks that are relatively new and quite steep in nature.
Boundaries and Borders
Vria has one contested border with Kertz to it’s north. The remainder is surrounded by various bodies of water. It is across the straights from it’s colonizer, Kombek.
Climate
Northern Vria is subtropical, southern Vria is tropical. Northern Vria is bordered by the imposing Radiant mountains and has near constant precipitation. That makes passage of the mountains very risky from April to September due to the snow and ice. The summer is less dangerous but still challenging in the lower passes and treacherous in the high passes due to flash floods, rock falls and other natural hazards.
In the depths of winter no part of Vria is immune to freezing temperatures, snow and freezing rain. High winds prevail in southern Vria year round with sustained winds exceeding 125 kph near the eastern coasts.
Topography
Vria is largely covered in mountains, but also features a tropical rainforest, coastal deserts and some marshland.

Economics
The economy in Vria is struggling to some degree. They frequently rely on indentured or slave workers and this suppresses the overall economy while increasing the wealth gap among those who have the means to utilize these workers. The economy is also split because of the current conflict, with the colonial regions faring much better with support from Kombek than the secessionists.
The following examples provide concrete examples of the operating economy in both areas of the country. Each of these are averages and will vary somewhat depending on local conditions.
Colonials:
• Currency: 10 copper pieces = 1 silver piece; 10 silver pieces = 1 gold piece
• The economy is primarily silver based; gold coins are rare, and copper coins common.
• Daily wage for an unskilled manual laborer: 6 copper pieces
• Yearly expenses for a family of four: 40 gold pieces
• Average room for one night at an average inn: 2 silver pieces
• Average meal at an average inn: 8 copper pieces
• Average mug of ale at an average inn: 1 copper piece
• Average price of a loaf of bread: 1 copper piece

Secessionists:
• Currency: 10 copper pieces = 1 silver piece; 10 silver pieces = 1 gold piece
• The economy is primarily silver based; gold coins are very rare, and copper coins common.
• Daily wage for an unskilled manual laborer: 4 copper pieces
• Yearly expenses for a family of four: 30 gold pieces
• Average room for one night at an average inn: 1 silver piece
• Average meal at an average inn: 6 copper pieces
• Average mug of ale at an average inn: 1 copper piece
• Average price of a loaf of bread: 1 copper piece

Merchants
The colonials (mainly coastal residents or those within easy travel distance to the coast) have a variety of mercantile exchanges, primarily routed through Kombek ports. There are small trading vessels from other places but given the higher import taxes for them they tend to be rare or pay bribes to smuggle goods rather than paying the tariffs.
Imports
Vria imports mainly finished goods and luxury items. Their food needs are met through plantations growing grain, tubers, and legumes. They also still “import” some labor in the form of indentured servants from Kombek.
Exports
Vria’s primary exports are mineral and agricultural. They still generate some silver, gold, copper, mercury and other base minerals from the mines under their control or through occasional trade with secessionists. Cotton, sugar and some tubers are exported, primarily to Kombek, as well.
